about us
SchoolFoor.Africa is a grassroots initiative dedicated to fostering educational equity and holistic development for children, teachers, and communities in Meru County, Kenya. By operating independently of state funding, we prioritize flexibility and responsiveness to local needs, ensuring that every donation directly transforms lives through education. Our work addresses systemic barriers such as poverty, limited infrastructure, and teacher shortages, while fostering sustainable community-led solutions.
our mission
Our mission is to break the cycle of poverty through transformative education by addressing the interconnected challenges facing Meru’s children. This includes:
Holistic Student Support
We provide scholarships, textbooks, and try to provide healthy meals to ensure students can focus on learning without financial strain. Drawing inspiration from the Materi Girls’ School, which combines academic rigor with psychosocial support, we prioritize girls’ education to counteract systemic inequities.
Teacher Empowerment
Teachers in Meru often work with limited resources and overcrowded classrooms. SchoolFoor.Africa invests in professional development, offering inclusive pedagogy and digital literacy. By equipping educators with tools akin to those promoted by the Adopt-a-School Foundation’s Whole School Development model, we enhance classroom outcomes and retention rates.
Community-Driven Infrastructure
From renovating or building classrooms, we collaborate with local artisans and parents to build safe, conducive learning environments. Our approach mirrors the SOS Africa model, which integrates infrastructure projects with community engagement.
Our Program
1. Student Fellowships
For $50 monthly, donors could cover a child’s school fees, uniform, and supplies, mirroring the Nakuru Meru School Sponsorship’s model. Sponsors receive annual progress reports and letters, fostering personal connections. High-impact donations ($100+) fund extracurricular activities, such as coding clubs or sports leagues, which build confidence and teamwork.
2. Teacher Fellowships
We sponsor advanced degrees for educators through. Fellows commit to mentoring peers, creating a ripple effect of knowledge-sharing.
3. School Infrastructure Grants
Grants fund classroom construction, latrine upgrades, and technology labs. At Kaaga Girls’ High School, similar investments enabled STEM programs and drama festivals, enriching student life.
Your Support
Donations going 100% directly into support programs, with administrative costs covered by dedicated volunteers.
A Better World
Only together we can create a better world with chances.
